Day Four – November 21st, 2017
On Day 4 we anchored off of Grand Cayman. There is an amazing reef encircling the island so they won’t let cruise ships dock. Instead ships anchor just off-shore and tender boats are used to ferry passengers back and forth thereby ensuring the safety of the reef below the water.
The excursion for today was Stingray City. Our catamaran was to bring us to a special snorkeling spot where we could swim with the stingrays. Lucky for us it was a bit rough and windy so the crew decided to forgo the snorkeling spot for a place where we could stand in waist high water and interact with the stingrays… what a lucky break. Although this place was incredibly busy our guides wasted no time coaxing over two animals for us to “visit” with for a bit. This was a truly amazing event. The stingrays were very docile and almost seemed to enjoy meeting us. We were told that the females are much larger than the males and they prefer to visit as the males are more solitary. These are large animals but they seemed right at home laying on your outstretched arms and offering you a kiss. The skin on their bottoms is very soft and they seem very nice. The skin on the top is more like sandpaper. These are amazing animals and I encourage you to enjoy their company when you can.
As we were heading back to the ship the waves laid down a bit and we were able to snorkel. We were lucky to see many reef fish and we also saw stingrays in their natural habitat. This was a very cool experience. On the way back we got to enjoy a beautiful sailing trip. Overall it was a great day.

Day Five – November 22nd, 2017
Day 5 began with our ship docking in Costa Maya, Mexico. This is truly a beautiful place. None of us had been here before so it was nice to experience a new port of call and this one didn’t disappoint. Costa Maya is setup just for cruise ships. They have really thought this destination out to make it easer for cruisers. Today’s excursion was another catamaran snorkel adventure. We were greeted at the dock by a pirate directing us to his crew for the days trip. Their costumes were fun and made for an enjoyable cruise to the reef. On the way we were told that the reef at Costa Maya is only second in size to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The snorkeling here was good and the swimming was challenging as we went a good long way in order to see as much as possible. On the way back free drinks and beer were served. Once again the weather was perfect and made for a great day.
For dinner tonight we had Palo reservations. My guest is a Platinum cruiser so we get one free Palo meal each cruise. Our Palo meals are always a highlight of our cruises and this one was no exception. The Italian cuisine is always amazing and the relaxing atmosphere is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day. We left full and happy as we always do.

Day Six – November 23rd, 2017
Day 6 was a sea day and for our cruise was also Thanksgiving day. This day we spent relaxing. We were excited about going to see the new Disney Pixar movie Coco this evening also. And as if we hadn’t eaten enough yet we made reservations for Palo Brunch. The brunch is setup as a buffet and some buffet it is. Anything you’d want from seafood to sweets is available for you to enjoy. And if all that grazing isn’t enough guess what there’s still a main course. I particularly like the lasagne, light and yummy. Again we spent another few hours at brunch watching the ocean go by, it was amazing.
Later that day we saw Coco and it was a great movie. I strongly encourage you to go and see it for yourself.
For dinner they served the traditional thanksgiving turkey dinner and our Captain Fabian came to the dining room to toast us. Overall it was a wonderful way to spend a holiday.

Day Seven – November 24th, 2017
Day 7 is every Disney cruisers favorite, Castaway Cay their private island. Relaxing is the word of the day. We like to go straight to the adult beach, Serenity Cove, put our chairs in the water and relax. There’s no need to get back on the ship for lunch as the crew cooks a BBQ on the island and the food is really good. Then back to the beach we go… ah this is the life. Tomorrow we’ll be back in Port Canaveral but we’ll have some amazing memories from the Disney Fantasy. Time to book another cruise!
