Rumor Buzz – Disney’s Animal Kingdom to get Indiana Jones Land
The latest Rumor Buzz (I said just a rumor) on the Internet from various sources has Disney changing out its current Dinosaur ride and DinoLand and turning it into an Indiana Jones ride and land. With a release date of July 2020 for the new Indiana Jones 5 movie, this would give Disney yet another intellectual property to leverage at one of their theme parks. This trend seems to be solid moving forward with the addition of Avatar in Animal Kingdom. Even though Avatar hasn’t played on the big screen in a while, Avatar world at Animal Kingdom appears to be pulling in some respectable attendance numbers and has proved in some way that the appeal of Hollywood blockbusters won’t be going away anytime soon.
The current rumor has DinoLand and the Dinosaur ride being re-imagined into an Indiana Jones land and ride. This would be an interesting idea and one that would certainly be prepped to support the release of the movie in 2020 if not shortly after that.
The multiple thrust of movie release and theme park experience could become a mainstay in the world of Disney in the future. There is no question that a successful movie can and will drive attendance to a theme park. Conversely, a less than stellar movie could potentially hurt attendance. This is an expensive gamble but one that Disney has to take in order to remain relevant in the theme park landscape.
The Indiana Jones franchise has good legs so even if “Indy 5” dies at the box office chances are very good that Indiana Jones Land will still be a huge success for the park.
