Mystery Mouse Munching Review – Be Our Guest Restaurant at the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom

One of the most difficult dining reservations to get is at the Be Our Guest restaurant at the Magic Kingdom. So you can imagine how excited I was when friends called and told us they had gotten dinner reservations for four. I quickly put on my ears, grabbed my guest and off we went to the park.

Arrival

We arrived slightly before our reservation time and we were asked to wait in the area in front of the door. It was an extremely hot Florida day and we were thankful for the shade the restaurant cast on our waiting area. The wait was short and off we went. As the huge, creaking door opened and we walked into the “castle” we were shown the mosaic mural on the wall. The detail was astounding and it really went a long way to making you feel like you were in a real castle.

We were then shown to our table in the grand ballroom and grand it is. The scale of this room is impressive and the detail once again shows how the Disney folks spare no expense for realism. From the fresco painting on the ceiling to the details in every niche’ no detail went unnoticed.

Shortly after we were seated “The Master”, read the Beast, was announced and walked through the ballroom. He’s a lot larger in person then he seems in the films. After his entrance our server told us about the different menu items and took our drink order. Since this is the only restaurant at the Magic Kingdom with adult beverages on the menu I took advantage of ordering one for myself.

The Meal

One of the ladies in our party ordered the French Onion soup and the gentleman ordered the Potato Leek Soup. Both said their soups were very good. I did not order an appetizer because I was saving room for dessert which we will get to a bit later. I ordered the Sautéed Shrimp and Scallops and my guest ordered the Grilled Strip Steak. Both of these Entrées were well prepared and tasted wonderful. I was particularly concerned about overcooked seafood in my dish but it was done to perfection paving the way for a wonderful dessert.

The Dessert

As the meal ended “The Master” came through the ballroom again. It was at this time I noticed that when I looked out the windows it was snowing. Since it was well above 90 degrees outside I was appreciative of this cold snap. Our server then arrived with a huge cart of desserts. This was very nice indeed. My guest had the “Grey Stuff” which she liked and I had the Triple Chocolate Cupcake which we all agreed was amazing. After dinner we were told to explore the rest of the castle then work our way to the room where the Beast was taking visitors for pictures.

Overall Impression

Be Our Guest gets high points on all areas from service and food quality to price and value. We used Tables in Wonderland to get a discount on our meal but they also accept the Disney Dining Plan and the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan.

If you get a chance to eat here do yourself a favor and take the opportunity to have a great meal with equally great atmosphere.

Oh and try the Grey Stuff it’s delicious!

I give it 5 out of 5 Ears!
