A major expansion is well underway across the Disney resort in anticipation of their 50th anniversary.
Toy Story Land
This summer the highly anticipated 11-acre Toy Story Land will open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The land will transport guests to Andy’s backyard where they can interact with all of the beloved Toy Story characters. We have been writing about Slinky Dog Dash coaster for some time now and it’s construction is going right on schedule. Some of the other attractions include: Alien Swirling Saucers and if you get a bit hungry drop by Woody’s Lunch Box for a quick bite.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Set to open in 2019, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will include a full-sized fleet of X-wing star fighters and a life-size Millennium Falcon starship. This fully immersive land will have guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance—inside a Star Destroyer. Another attraction will have you flying the Millennium Falcon, hope Han doesn’t get angry.
Immersive Star Wars-Themed Hotel
This new luxury resort will completely immerse guests in an authentic Star Wars story. No opening date has been released as of deadline.
Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction at Epcot
This one-of-a-kind family attraction will feature a brand-new, innovative ride system – and will be one of the longest enclosed roller coasters in the world! This attraction is expected to open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort in 2021.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will feature a new original story and lovable theme song, as it takes guests on a journey inside their wacky and unpredictable world. This ride will leverage new technologies to turn Mickey and Minnie’s 2D world into a multi-dimensional experience.
A New Family-friendly Show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Just in time for the 20th Anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a new, family-friendly show will debut at the theme park April 22. Featuring Russell and Dug from Disney•Pixar’s “Up,” guests will get a chance to see their favorite Senior Wilderness Explorer and his furry friend as they discover bird species from around the world.
